Applicants must be the registered owner of the private car being applied for.

  • Each applicant may designate no more than two drivers (one of whom may be the applicant) to operate their private vehicle between Hong Kong and Guangdong Province. Designated drivers must be Hong Kong residents holding a valid Hong Kong Identity Card. Additionally, designated drivers must hold valid travel documents such as a Hong Kong and Macao Residents Travel Permit to the Mainland (i.e., Home Visit Permit), a foreign passport with a valid visa (or residence permit, permanent residence identity card), or other international travel documents with a valid visa (or residence permit, permanent residence identity card). They must also possess both a Hong Kong and Mainland China driver's license.
